It · Was · Already · Broke · When · I · Got · Here

Finally closing in on the end of A Cracked and Broken Path Unlike the other Cedar Hill novels, I've been revising this one as it heads toward the finale in order to make damn certain the continuity fits with not only the other novels, but the major CH short stories and novellas. My headwill explode eventually. This will be Apex Book's first release under its new national distribution deal, and I hope it does well. I'm trimming as I go because I've got to keep this thing under 160, 000 words and it ain't been easy. (Look a for an excerpt to go up on the APEX site sometime late next week.)

For those who are concerned this is the final nail in Cedar Hill's coffin, it isn;t. As soon as the novel is delivered, Paul Miller at Earthling will be getting the 3rd Cedar Hill collection, The Carnival Within which will contain the final Cedar Hill Story, "This Dark March," wherein the cycle will be completed. Damn but I'm gonna miss the place.

Cool aside, though: I have the written blessing of Peter Sinfield (King Crimson lyricist) to quote the verse from "Epitaph" that contains the title of the novel. How neat is that?
